Corporate Sponsorship
Lions Camp Duckadang is an organisation that runs on Volunteers, Donations, Grants – without this support we would need to significantly increase our prices which would impinge on our ability to provide reasonable cost accommodation and meals for the youth and disadvantaged. Income from the Camp is for the maintenance, general upkeep and staff costs. Any equipment and items that need to be purchased such as beds, generators, etc are funded through our District Clubs, various Grants and Donations from Companies and the wonderful people that support our camp.
The Camp land was originally offered to us by Mr and Mrs Graham Burnett for the use of a Youth Camp in 1972. The Rathburnie Estate is west of the camp and both Mr and Mrs Burnett have been laid to rest on the Estate.
As mentioned on the Home Page we are owned by 3 Lions Districts. Lions is an international organisation that assists in all aspects of Community Service and Projects throughout the world.
Volunteering & Donations
There are many ways you can engage with us and offer either your services, trades and materials. Woodford Lions Club recently received a grant for the purchase of a new generator, freezer and bunk beds. We are currently seeking some assistance with the sanding and re-varnishing of our Hall. Can you help? Do you know someone that can offer their services? We hope to be able to do this at our August Working Bee.
Working Bees
Generally Camp Duckadang has three to four Working Bees each year. The general activities at these working bees are posted and updated on our Facebook page. At these working bees there are a wide variety of actions that need to be undertaken. From the general trades such as painting, plumbing, tiling, electrical, floor sanding to cleaning, cooking, garden maintenance, landscaping – we offer our volunteers a variety of opportunities to help us.
The Working Bees for 2020 are:
- 19-21 June 2020 | Tasks include: Safety inspection of beds, install missing mesh covers and diffusers to lighting, external building cleaning and painting, pesticide spraying, install panel fencing to maintenance shed compound, reassemble of playground panels, repair and paint front entrance.
- 13-15 November 2020 |
Due to current COVID-19 Restrictions it is imperative that you register your interest with Greg Rollason on 0431 598 560 or greg.rollo@bigpond.com.
Accommodation is free, however each person/family provides their own food, drinks and bed linen. Saturday night is catered as a thank you to all the volunteers. RSVP is necessary to provide our Camp Managers with numbers for catering. The accommodation is dormitory style bunk bed (king single size) accommodation and ‘mixed’. If you would prefer to come for the Saturday only you are very welcome.
